I had really hoped against hope that this most obvious of all the hits on the Major Lazer record would be selling shedloads by now, but it was not to be. Perfect record for a soggy and gray day spent fiddling with records. Their LP from last year was pretty good drum n bass, but nothing could have prepared us for this. Prince Zimboo “Love Diareha” – A fun, funny track with a great groove. This deserves to be huge. It wasn’t on YouTube yet so I cobbled something together and put it up. I have had a chance to think a bit more about the Major Lazer show. My initial reaction still stands, but I figured I’d try to tease out a little more. I haven’t seen any other reviews of the show yet, so I’ll write this and then go looking. SOB’s was sold out. The crowd was not as painfully hip as I feared it would be. My suspicion is that there are two reasons for this: The “real” hipsters have not yet cottoned on to Major Lazer AND because it is shamelessly populist party/dance music, the “real” hipsters may consider…
