16. Car Seat Headrest – The Scholars So glad this band is in my life. It’s a big record, with a big sound.
17. Melody’s Echo Chamber – Unclouded Laid-back, perfect background sounds for a late night, smokey speakeasy.
18. Saint Etienne – International Their final album after 35 years together is a memorable way to go out.
19. The Mountain Goats – Through This Fire Across from Peter Balkan Another solid release from Superchunk’s drummer.
20. Mt. Joy – Hope We Have Fun Campfire classics for the new age. Also works well for a road trip.

Experimental:
1. Los Thuthanaka – Los Thuthanaka Abstract, lo-fi noise rock.
2. Tortoise – Touch Deep grooves here.
3. Natural Information Society – Totality Hypnotic and dreamy.
4. Vijay Iyer / Wadada Leo Smith – Defiant Life Defiant for sure.
5. Yazz Ahmed – A Paradise In The Hold Tropical and distant sounds.
6. Ichiko Aoba – Luminescent Creatures Ethereal and peaceful.
7. Hayden Pedigo – I'll Be Waving As You Drive Away Beautiful instrumentals.
8. Shrunken Elvis – Shrunken Elvis Genre busting, rooted in experimental jazz.
9. Dirty Projectors / Dave Longstreth – Song of The Earth Very pretty sounds.
10. Nels Cline – Consentrik Quartet Don’t quit your day job but keep your night job!

1. Galaxie 500 – CBGB 12.13.88 I forgot how great these guys were. This is prime.
2. Hüsker Dü – 1985: The Miracle Year I always know how great these guys are.
