I was also lucky enough to go to a screening of the Replacements documentary “Color Me Obsessed”, and the ‘Mats tribute show that followed, highlighted by covers performed by Craig Finn & Tad Kubler, Patrick Stickles (of Titus Andronicus), Bree Sharp, Jesse Malin, Kevin Kinney, and plenty of others. ! great night in celebration of Westerberg, Mars, and the brothers Stinson! (And a little Slim as well.)
RIP Randy Savage, Vaclav Havel, Gil Scott-Heron, Sidney Lumet, Peter Yates, Sherwood Schwartz, Michael Gough, Mikey Welsh, and anyone else that exerted some influence over my personal pop culture (de)evolution before passing from this world. I also mourn the passing of the Jose Reyes era in Mets history, but eagerly await the Ruben Tejada era. And the Lucas Duda era. And the Ike Davis era.
Enjoy 2012; tell the Mayans/Republicans/Frackers/One Percenters/Phillies fans to go fly a kite!
