Main Poop Analysis 2023

January 2024 Dear POOPsters: The 37 th Annual POOPlist now lights up your screens. Despite the tenuous state of the world (and this country’s inglorious contribution to it), we musical know-it-alls meet in the shadows once again to share our POmpous and OPinionated thoughts and ramblings. If nothing else compiling lists of the records that brought us joy and solace sure beats assembling lists of, I dunno, the most horrible climate disasters or the vilest actions on the world stage. The (only) 16 of us who contributed this year have decided that wildfires, droughts, floods, global hostilities and human atrocities…

Jim Meyers Poop 2017

Last year at this time I was as ill as this Country appears to be now. I felt like I was dying and just didn’t care about much of anything except my misery and myself. My plague passed, the Nation’s (Not The National, that’s an entirely different story) I fear may be nearing terminal status. Where are the protest singers? Where are the protest songs? I’m seeing Pussy Riot in May so maybe that will be the first in what I hope is a burgeoning musical Resistance. That being said, somewhat clumsily, I admit, I included a few titles from…

Main Poop Analysis 2013

Dear POOPster: I know you’ve been waiting with bad breath for the front-page POOP analysis and tabulation. So on this occasion, the 27th annual foray into the realm of the POmpous and the OPinionated, I present to you the combined musings of pretty much the same gaggle of blowhards, 28 of them to be exact. For reasons that both escape and annoy me, we are once again an almost entirely male sampling of swillmeisters; it’s getting right testosterony up in here. Talk about fitting the record geek profile. . . Anyway, to the Price-Waterhouse stuff. As usual, I’ve attempted to…

Irv Rosen Poop 2013

What I listened to in 2013 So little music, so much time. Listening less. And less. As part of my slide to senility, not much new seems to speak to me at all. So this list is mostly new efforts by older artists. I guess this is the way it is meant to be. Why is it that invariably (or almost so), the current releases of “legacy” artists while good, rarely seem to approach the quality (or my perception of the quality) of their older works? Is it perception or is it real?    Buy New or Used via Amazon Richard…

Jeff Schwartz Poop 2013

PoOp 2013 as delivered by Jeff Schwartz from Green Brook…… So the recordings listed below from the year twenty thirteen allowed for much toe tapping, head bobbing, songs sticking in my head and pleasantly holding my mind hostage, music that begged to be sung out loud at the top of my lungs (while alone of course in my car a scary sight for one to visualize be glad none of you had to be subjected to that), and overall what I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this past year….I offer this to you in a most pleasant, to the point, form…
